ADJUST YOUR OWN SADDLE PROPERLY

A great bike ride starts with a well-fitting bike. Yet, many cyclists don't realize their bike isn't optimally adjusted. That's a shame, because proper setup makes a world of difference. You'll ride more comfortably, pedal more efficiently, and reduce the risk of injury. One of the easiest and most important adjustments is saddle height and that's where things often go wrong.

When is your saddle not positioned correctly?

Your saddle can be too high or too low without you immediately noticing. Often, you only notice it when you experience physical symptoms, such as sore knees or back, wobbly hips while cycling, or difficulty getting on and off the bike.

The saddle height of an electric bike is especially important. Because you need to exert less force, you often sit less actively and rest more weight on the saddle. Incorrect adjustment can quickly lead to problems. Fortunately, you'll quickly feel comfortable riding a CUBE electric bike!

How do you know if your saddle fits properly?

Your saddle is properly adjusted when you can make smooth, circular pedaling movements, with your weight evenly distributed over the pedals. At the lowest point of your pedaling stroke, your leg is almost straight, with a slight bend in your knee. Your toes should just barely touch the ground when you reach down with one leg. This provides stability when stopping, without compromising your comfort while cycling.

How to adjust your saddle yourself

Want to adjust the saddle on your electric bike yourself? Follow these steps:

  1. Stand next to your bike.
  2. Loosen the seatpost clamp and adjust the saddle to your hip height.
  3. Make sure the saddle is straight and tighten the seatpost clamp securely.
  4. Sit on the saddle, lean against a wall if necessary, and check the following:
    • Are your toes just touching the ground?
    • Place your heel on the pedal at the lowest point: is your leg almost straight with a slight bend?
    • Place the pedals horizontally: is your front knee directly above the bottom bracket?

Adjust your saddle until all of the above requirements are met.

A frequently used additional guideline is the formula: inseam × 0.883 = saddle height . Measure this height from the bottom bracket to the top of the saddle. You can measure your inseam by standing against a wall and placing a flat object like a book against your crotch. Measure the length from the floor to your crotch.
