HOW DO YOU GET YOUR BIKE READY FOR SUMMER?
8 TIPS FOR MAINTAINING YOUR BIKE DURING THE HOT SUMMER MONTHS
Have you been out on your bike again with the sun finally starting to shine? It is important to maintain your bike well and get it ready for summer. Whether you are planning to go on long bike rides or just cycle to work every day, it is important to make sure that you bicycle is in top condition. With the following tips you will be back on the road looking well groomed.
1. Clean your bike
Every time you clean your bike with water, water gets into your bearings. It is therefore recommended to only clean your bike with water if it is really dirty. Otherwise, a brush is often enough. You can maintain your frame with a cleaning agent , such as Juice Lubes . Dry the bike well after cleaning.
2. Lubricate the chain
Make sure your bike chain is well lubricated. It is important to lubricate the chain regularly to prevent wear. Apply lubricant to the chain and wipe off the excess.
3. Check the tire pressure
Make sure your bike tires are properly inflated to ensure a smooth ride. Check the recommended tire pressure on the side of the tire and inflate the tires to the recommended pressure. Proper tire pressure reduces the chance of punctures. Do you want to ride more comfortably? Then you can go a little lower in tire pressure. But make sure you always put the minimum pressure in your tires.
4. Check the brakes
Test your brakes to make sure they are working properly. Make sure the brake pads are not worn and that they have enough grip. Replace the brake pads if necessary and clean the brakes.
5. Check the lighting
Are you also going out in the evening? Don't forget your lights . Make sure they are charged or that you have checked the batteries before you leave home.
6. Check the saddle and handlebar height
Check that the saddle and handlebars are set to the correct height. A good saddle and height adjustment will ensure a comfortable ride.
7. Store your bike properly
Store your bike in a dry and safe place, for example in a bike shed or garage. This prevents damage and theft.
