SEPTEMBER: DE BESTE MAAND OM TE FIETSEN?

SEPTEMBER: THE BEST MONTH FOR CYCLING?

September is a peculiar month. Summer is officially almost over, vacation photos are now mixed in with regular photos on your phone, and the first gingerbread cookies are already back in stores. Yet, when it comes to cycling, there's no reason to slow down.

In fact, September might just be one of the best months for cycling. Temperatures are more pleasant than in mid-summer, crowds thin out, and nature slowly begins to change color. You still have enough daylight for a ride after work, and before you know it, you're back on your bike in the woods, on the dike, or somewhere far outside the city. The cycling season is far from over.

No high temperatures, but big miles

Anyone who has taken a long bike ride in July or August knows that heat can demand quite a bit from you. A few degrees less can make a surprisingly big difference on the bike. September is therefore often just right. Cool enough to keep riding comfortably, but usually still warm enough for a ride without three layers of clothing and thick gloves.

For road bikes, this is, of course, ideal. Long rides become much more enjoyable when the sun isn't beating down on your back all day.

The forest becomes more fun

In September, something slowly changes outside. The days are getting shorter, the sun is lower, and in the forest, you notice the season beginning to turn. It's not yet a spectacular autumn scene with orange leaves on the ground, but it's different from a few weeks ago. More humid, some loose leaves, and an occasional muddy patch suddenly make a familiar route interesting again.

For mountain bikers and gravel riders, this is certainly no reason to stay home. Quite the opposite. Precisely when the landscape slowly turns autumnal, unpaved roads and forest trails become extra fun. This is where a gravel bike like the CUBE Nuroad truly shines. It's a bike that's not only fun on a sunny summer day but also comes into its own when conditions become less predictable. And perhaps that's precisely why gravel riding is so enjoyable in the autumn. You don't have to choose between asphalt and adventure.

Ride after work

Another advantage of September is that you can still easily get on your bike after a workday. The days are getting shorter but not yet so short that it's dark as soon as you close your laptop. This makes it a good time to keep up the habit of a ride after work.

Not every ride has to be long, far, or an extensive training ride. Sometimes an hour of cycling is just enough to clear your head. A ride through the polder, a stretch along the water, or a familiar route you've ridden a hundred times.

Those who mainly use their bike for commuting but also enjoy long rides on the weekend can combine both worlds with a hybrid e-bike. The new CUBE Touring Hybrid One 600, for example, is equipped with a 75 Nm Bosch Performance Line motor, a suspension fork, and an integrated luggage rack. Practical for daily use, but certainly not limited to the commute to the office.

Adventure around the corner

Perhaps this is the best reason to cycle in September. In summer, we love to explore. New countries, new mountains, new routes. But as soon as the holiday is over, it sometimes feels like the adventure is over too, but that doesn't have to be the case at all.

Try a route you've never ridden before. Turn left at that familiar intersection instead of right. Find an unpaved path on the map and see where it leads you. Or discover what's actually behind that one bend you usually always ride past.

And a new bike?

September is also one of those months when you suddenly notice that your bike no longer quite fits how you cycle nowadays. Maybe you started with a road bike and now mostly ride gravel. Or perhaps you're using your e-bike more and more for longer tours.

This could mean that your way of cycling has changed. The new CUBE 2027 collection is now available, and the first models are already at CUBE Stores. From road bikes and gravel bikes to mountain bikes and e-bikes. The collection is extensive, but ultimately it boils down to one question: what do you want to cycle with in the coming months? Because if September makes one thing clear, it's that there are still plenty of beautiful cycling days ahead.

The best cycling season begins!

Summer is not the end of the cycling season. September marks the beginning of a period where you can cycle in a different way. Less heat, fewer crowds, and thus more space on the trails. The morning is cooler, and the surroundings only get more beautiful. Sometimes a short loop after work is enough, so don't put your bike away just yet. Put on your shoes, pump up your tires, and see where the road takes you today.
