THE ADVANTAGES OF ELECTRIC SWITCHING AT A GLANCE

Whether you are a mountain biker or a road warrior, you are increasingly seeing bicycles with electric shifting. Just like most innovations, not many cycling enthusiasts want to get started . Mechanical shifting still works fine, right? That is certainly true, but there are quite a few advantages to electric shifting.

Which brands are on CUBE bicycles?

Electric shifting has been an indispensable part of professional cycling and mountain biking since 2008. All major drivetrain manufacturers have created their own version over time. CUBE assembles the bikes with the two largest brands in the world. When you buy a new mountain bike , you have a drivetrain from Shimano or SRAM.

  • DI2 FROM SHIMANO

Electronic shifting works just like Shimano's mechanical shifting. The right shifter gives you control over the rear derailleur . For the front derailleur, you operate the left shifter .

  • AXS FROM SRAM

SRAM looked at Formula 1 when developing their electronic shifting system. You shift up with your right hand and down with your left. But how do you shift the front chainring? It's very simple: you tap left and right at the same time and voilà.

Always shift perfectly

Whether you choose Shimano or SRAM, both electronic systems always shift perfectly. Even when the components are under pressure, the components continue to work. However, we do not recommend doing this often. The rear derailleur also aligns itself in the ideal line. The AXS also runs at the top of mountain biking. Not without results, because Nino Schurter has become champion with it several times. The mountain bike variant, the AXS Eagle drivetrain, is designed in such a way that the rear derailleur always aligns itself. No matter what the rough terrain that the chain has to absorb, it remains perfectly aligned and tight.

Make it personal and optimize to your own driving style

Do you like to regularly shift more than one tooth at a time? Then this is the functionality that will make you no longer long for mechanical. Shimano and Sram have both developed an app where you can pair the Di2 and AXS components . There you can see the status of the batteries, but even better: you can program your own preferences. You can set the system so that the front derailleur shifts along when you shift lighter or heavier. Or that it prevents compensation of your rear derailleur. You can manage it yourself. It is also possible to do multiple gears at once. The Sram Shimano's Axs app and E-tube project app are available for IOS and Android. Check your batteries regularly

Mechanical braking works via cables.

These stretch and need to be maintained regularly. With electric switching, especially when you do this wirelessly, you no longer need any maintenance. One point you do need to keep an eye on is how full your batteries are. What you want to avoid is getting stuck on your big chainring during a ride with a lot of climbing and having to stomp up. Therefore, check the app regularly the evening before you go on a ride to see if you don't need to charge first.

Electronic is now available on our most beautiful models. The entire Litening line is equipped with electric shifting. You can even choose between Di2 or AXS. Even the top mountain bikers are equipped with AXS.
