Additionally, the larger surface area reduces the chance of painful feet during long rides. Aluminum plates at the contact points ensure that the pedal body wears less quickly.
Smooth rotating bearings
The pedal axle of the 105 R7000 pedals is equipped with dual bearings, allowing the pedal to rotate smoothly and reducing energy loss while pedaling. A minor drawback is that the sealing of these bearings is not as good as that of the Ultegra R8000 pedals. If you mainly ride in dry weather, this is not an issue. However, if you often ride through rain and mud, the Ultegra R8000 pedals with extra sealing might be a better choice.
